January is Poverty Awareness Month. As a company that works day in and day out to create and preserve affordable housing in the U.S., we’re deeply aware of the scope and scale of impact of poverty. According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, the U.S. has a shortage of 7.3 million affordable rental homes available to renters with extremely low incomes. That means there are only 33 affordable and available rental homes for every 100 extremely low-income families

LAMP Lodge

At Boston Financial we’re working to close the gap in affordable housing accessibility by continuing to focus our work on equity initiatives that help people get safe, quality, affordable places to call home.
These are places like LAMP Lodge, a new 82-unit affordable housing community which will provide permanent supportive housing for homeless, chronically homeless and individuals with special needs. Boston Financial is proud to have partnered with @Meta Housing on this important project. Located in Central City East, at the heart of Los Angeles’ homelessness crisis, this community features a host of amenities including a community kitchen and a community garden. The community garden along with the supportive services planned at the community will help to create a holistic environment that will support the wellness of residents.

New Charity’s House

These are places like New Charity’s House, a new 36-unit affordable housing community which will provide permanent supportive housing for formerly unhoused families, as well as ex-offenders who are leaving transitional housing with nowhere to call home.

New Charity’s House is a reality due to the long and hard work of Ms. Eddie Woolfolk and Pastor Robert “Bob” Woolfolk of The Community Outreach Service Center, and Boston Financial is proud to have partnered with them, Blueline Property Management, Colorado Housing & Finance Authority, Agape Christian Church, and CVS Health on this important project. Located in the Five Points neighborhood of Denver, Colorado. New Charity’s House offers robust supportive services are provided by the Mental Health Center of Denver (MHCD), and social work services from the Community Outreach Service Center. The Community Outreach Service Center brings local service providers on site to provide support and navigation for one of Denver’s most vulnerable populations.

New Charity’s House is located in Five Points, a designated cultural historic district due to its important role in Black History, is one of the neighborhoods whose residents have been most adversely impacted by gentrification. In addition, per the Metro Denver Homeless Initiative’s 2021 Point in Time Count, African American individuals make up just over 5% of Metro Denver’s population, but represent more than 26% of people experiencing homelessness. New Charity’s House is helping preserve affordable housing in the Five Points neighborhood while providing residents with the resources they need to have stable housing and live healthier lives.

Dahlia

These are places like Dahlia, a 56-unit affordable housing community which will provide permanent supportive housing for formerly unhoused families.

Boston Financial is proud to have partnered with Affirmed Housing on this important project. Located in Los Angeles, CA, resident amenities include a property management office, case managers’ offices, laundry room, community room, service area, outdoor patio, and a computer room. On the fourth floor, there is a terrace that includes gathering space and planters for tenants to enjoy. Supportive services are provided by Homeless Health Care of Los Angeles.
