Congratulations to our partners WinnCompanies, the Mission Main Tenant Task Force, and the Boston Housing Authority on winning a 2024 Affordable Housing Finance Readers Choice Award for Mission Main, a recently renovated affordable housing community in Boston’s Mission Hill neighborhood. We are proud to be a partner in this successful renovation, which kept 445 affordable homes in Boston.

Our investor partner, Citizens, provided nearly $34 million of Federal LIHTC equity and $6 million of Massachusetts State LIHTC equity in support of the preservation of Mission Main. Citizens also provided an additional $1 million in capital from its Economic Opportunity Fund to help expand access to technology for residents including covering the cost of in-home high-speed broadband connectivity for all Mission Main residents, updating the technology in the community’s learning lab, and ongoing workforce programming to help residents achieve their career goals.

“At Citizens, we are committed to strengthening our local communities and supporting the economic growth and success of Boston and its vibrant communities,” said Lisa Murray, Massachusetts President at Citizens. “We’re honored to help finance the Mission Main redevelopment project and fund improved access to technology and workforce programming that will provide resources and wrap-around services to help residents achieve their goals.”

WinnCompanies’ social impact arm Connected Communities is also working closely with the Tenant Task Force and the residents of Mission Main on outcome-focused services and programs to improve the health, education, economic mobility, career placement and housing stability of Mission Main residents and their families.

“Boston Financial is proud to work with the Mission Main Tenant Task Force, WinnCompanies, Citizens, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, MassHousing, and the Boston Housing Authority on the revitalization of Mission Main,” said Rob Charest, Senior Managing Director, Boston Financial. “This renovation preserved much-needed affordable housing in the Mission Hill neighborhood here in Boston, and we are so proud to have played a part in giving this housing community new life.”
